BOB & SUSAN WATHEN

Bob and Susan Wathen met in college and married a year later. They raised their three daughters in Hannibal, Missouri. The Wathen’s have been involved in various aspects of ministry since they were married in 1986. In addition to being actively involved in ministry in their local church, they volunteer time with the While We’re Waiting ministry, helping to facilitate retreats and leading a local support group in Hannibal.

The Wathen’s youngest daughter, Hannah, took her own life unexpectedly in 2015. They went from planning a high school graduation party to planning a funeral, and in the midst of utter chaos, felt the Peace that Passes Understanding.

Bob retired from his career in manufacturing, and Susan retired from her career as a healthcare HR executive - both at the end of 2024. They love spending time with their family, especially their six grandchildren. They also enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking, traveling, and just spending time together. Their faith in the Sovereign King of the Universe continues to carry them until the time they get to see their Savior face to face, and are reunited with their Hannah.
