CYNTHIA COX
Cynthia and her husband, David, have been married for thirty-nine years, mostly spent in North Carolina - first in Kernersville (four years) and then Southeast Guilford County. Just recently, they moved to Lynch Station, Virginia, about thirty minutes south of Lynchburg. This move brought them closer to their oldest child, Grayson, and his wife, Michaela. Their youngest child, also named Michaela, and her husband, Evan, live in Colorado. Cynthia’s and David’s second child resides in heaven.
Miscarrying Malachi Charles at the beginning of the second trimester of her pregnancy was not part of Cynthia's "life plan." The loss of a child always riddles a parent with questions. This type of loss is really not much different than most losses; however, people seemed different in their reactions to miscarriage, not acknowledging the life of Malachi or the depth of grief associated with his homegoing. Cynthia did not have the help of others who were bereaved, or any type of grief counseling. No one in her world really understood her pain or thought she needed help, and she locked the memories and pain in the recesses of her heart and "moved on" with life.
Cynthia walks with God, in faith, having the hope and knowledge that His plans are always good and that she will one day see Malachi again. She hopes to help others who have experienced the loss of a child by miscarriage and they too will know the comfort and hope that comes from knowing Christ.
