Michael and Christina met in college in Grand Junction, Colorado, in 1989. Over the years, their shared journey has taken them across the country, but they now call Lynchburg, Virginia, home.
Life has brought both beauty and hardship, yet through it all, they’ve come to see how faithfully God has walked beside them—even in the moments when His presence felt hidden.
Their sons, Ethan and Ezra, were born and raised in Minnesota. When Ethan was four, he quietly announced that he would die young, saying he would live to be nineteen. On June 6, 2019, while working in the library at Liberty University, God called Ethan home. His passing came without warning and without known cause, leaving an unfillable space in their lives and hearts.
Michael continues his work in financial crime prevention and is the author of The Cloud Grows Thin—a memoir about loss, grace, and the transformation that can emerge from tragedy. Christina is a dietitian with a private practice dedicated to helping people uncover and heal the root causes of their health challenges.
They first came to Our Hearts Are Home seeking connection, understanding, and hope among other bereaved parents. Now, they feel called to offer that same support to others who are navigating the lifelong journey of love and loss.
