NANCY HAMNER
Nancy Hamner lives in Jacksonville, Florida, where she teaches English at a local college. She enjoys spending time with her oldest son, Jason, and his wife who live nearby.
After doctors told Nancy she had a "one-in-a-million" chance of having children, the Lord provided a way for adoption, and Jason was placed in her arms at less than two days old. Two years later, her youngest son Ryan was born.
At six years old, Ryan was diagnosed with pediatric cancer and went through recurrences at ages nine, eleven, and twenty-one, later dealing with the late-term effects of treatment. At the age of forty-five, Ryan underwent open-heart surgery and went home to Heaven on July 25, 2022.
Ryan was a singer, songwriter, and musician, writing to encourage others and give them hope. Nancy treasures the songs Ryan left, and with the help of Ryan's good friend and producer, she continues to release Ryan's remaining songs.
By the grace of God, Nancy continues to send care packages to pediatric cancer patients through Ryan's business—Bamba Box. Ryan created this business to serve children going through some of the same tough things he went through as a child. He wanted to give them something good to look forward to.
As difficult as life has been, Nancy sees how the Lord has gone before her, providing a way through the heartache and suffering.
