Stories of Loss and Hope
September 16, 2022 — Gary and Laura House
Today we are particularly grateful for the twelve parents who joined us in writing Until Then: Stories of Loss and Hope. In the book, each author shares their story of loss with honesty and transparency. Readers will get a glimpse of the shock and devastation that comes with losing a child. And yet, as you read about the darkest days each parent has ever experienced, it’s impossible to miss the hand of God, carrying each of them through this unwanted journey.
Included at the end of each chapter is a section specifically written to newly bereaved parents. If you’ve lost a child, then we pray that these words will be helpful to you. For those who have not experienced loss, we hope you will better understand those around you who are grieving, and perhaps glean perspective on how to come alongside them as they walk this difficult road.
The final section of each chapter includes scriptures that have brought, and continue to bring, comfort and strength to each author. Each writer testifies that through the most horrible thing that could ever happen to them, the Lord has been faithful to hold them and comfort them, and as they’ve drawn close to Him, they’ve experienced an intimacy with God that they had not known before.
Whether or not you are grieving the loss of a loved one, or experiencing another time of suffering in your life, we hope that you’ll be encouraged and that your faith will deepen as you consider the truths learned and shared in the book.
